FETE NATIONALE.

Oui, ou Non?
How come there isn't a Sainte Patricia day.
Well ok, I do celebrate St. Patti's day.
damn, just kicked myself in the ass with that one.
And I suppose I have my birthday on JULY 26TH.
But that isn't a national day where I can get you out of work to drink now is it?
Ok ok, so I have to try a little harder to convince Paul Martin. But you know he has a hidden agenda and has gotta do it sooner or later, why wouldn't he? He is a very Liberal sorta fellow. And he just gave 47 million to Dubyah, so why wouldn't he pull for a day off to a pretty girl like me? Did I just say pretty?
I meant FABULOUS!
pour la fete nationale du quebec,
I get to celebrate sleeping in and doing laundry and dusting!
Oh and also wearing my pajamas all day.
WHY? because I just can TABERNAC!
Due to some sort of provincial seperatist holiday all I know is that I get today off and this is right before a Friday according to my calendar.
So what's an English Montrealer, to do on a Thursday? When I cannot:
a) drink
b) stay out late
c) get a hangover
d) sleep in
e) go out of town to some exclusive resort in Macau
f) get married to an exotic dancer in Vegas
g) drink
h) go to Tiffany's
I) go to birk's
J) eat Mr. Freeze, oh I CAN do that.
So instead of the above listed,
I sifted through some old photo albums today, scanned a few gems.
I found a rare picture of when I met GOWAN at a FETE NATIONALE concert in '98.
Nothin' says provincial pride like a free GOWAN concert.
I also found some old pictures of me camping at The Crowe's Nest.
We all used to go there every summer as this was Dave's grandparents' old cottage in The Thousand Islands region of Ontario. It was always a weekend to remember. That is IF you could actually remember anything.
So I sent those old pictures over to Dave, who is now officially: 'My Lawyer'.
Ah misc camping pics, I smiled as life was so simple back then. Well ok actually it wasn't. I was fighting off a 2kegs-of-beer-weekend-marathon, and well, I was still with Chris my boyfriend of 5 1/2 years.
Ok, so life was different then, I suppose it just looked simple as that was before all of us ran off and got mature and married.
I have been talking to Dave lately, I think its because we have a lot of similarities due to the fact he was with his girlfriend Stephanie for 7 years and is now also single.
My brother just had his baby and now Dave's brother's are both also married and having children. Sometimes there is a great silence as we both reflect on this topic together. It is also great to have someone to relate to 100%. It is often hard to find someone to relate to in life. I am blessed by the friendships that I do have as Montreal is quite a cold & shallow place.
But Dave and I, were always with someone, for years on end. And now we face all of our friends getting married and we were the only two in bigtime serious relationships throughtout The Crowe's Nest past of wild beer havoc.
I also find it interesting that I am happier than I have ever been and totally alone.
Maybe that was all it ever took to make me smile = Guinness. No wait, this solitude.
I am happy for my brother and his wife.
Dave says that because I am taking graphic design courses and should save my money, he is going to become my surrogate family this xmas. At least his family has crackers and wear the same funny colored hats like we do in Edmonton.
But I am still undecided over xmas at this point. I will go home on a weekend seat sale. Not sure when, but that is the plan. My brother wont let me come home as it is a bad financial move during xmas. I agree on this also for the fact that I haven't even received a single phonecall from the family that I do pay THRU-THE-TEETH to see every year. Maybe on my birthday if I am lucky I will get a call or two?
Is it just me that heard this CRAZY rumor about long distance calling being expensive or something at .10 cents per minute??? Wow that's certainly a lot!
I guess I can also add that I speak to my lawyer for 7hours at a time.
You do the math and he splits the next bill!
But I am however, thankful for the offering of Crowe Turkey and colored tissue hats.
Thank you for being there for me. I think Dave just wants a blonde ninja at his dinner table to take the spotlight off of all the married with baby bliss!
Next weekend, I can't wait to go to Toronto to see my friend Rosy smile. She is finally getting out of this party town. Magalie is also joining us! It will be Mag's birthday weekend, so we have to treat her to THE KEG MANSION. After seeing Peter's FRINGE comedy show. Rosy gets to face a new town.
She has a boyfriend in Boston, but is looking forward to scoop up the best Torontonian Indian man available. Bruins suck anyway and she wants to get married.
I got an e-mail today from my friend Steph who now lives in England. She just got engaged this past Sunday. I am happy for her. She is a good example of living life the way you have always dreamt it to be. She lost over 80lbs, left Toronto to visit Australia for a few months, packed her bags moved to England, met an amazing boyfriend and now two years later, engaged. She is SO happy. This makes me super excited to hear as I knew her best when she was her old self back in Toronto and very very unhappy.
Now I just hope I can get to England!
Mike and Tangie are back home with Kennedy, proud of their new daughter!
I hope Jalen loves his new baby sister!
I am proud that I can now do push-ups on my knuckles, ok and the fact that I am in Montreal on my own.
We all have our dreams and our ambition.
And I am still in pj's
