WHEN THE WHITE LIGHT GOES DIM

Friday.
Matt Good's concert cxld due to illness.
I follow his BLOG daily and knew that this would occur.
He had said that he wasn't doing very well this past week.
Must be hard to sing every other night in a strange town.
And knowing that your voice is your source of bread and butter, that's gotta be rough.
If you were to lose it due to illness there goes a big sack of cash for the night.
And he has to pay for cool stuff such as his wife's Vuitton purse addiction and that iPOD he raves on about. We all have our addictions. No matter how old we get, no matter the age. It will be a long wait for him to come back to Montreal.
I know he is off going to Banff for his birthday. Which he shares with my cousin Gerry.

Saturday.
I went to chinatown to enjoy the sunshine and to eat at the best Chinese restaurant in town. Well, obviously!
And I had to go down there as I have heard all about this treat called Dragon's Beard candy. I found the old man and told him how excited I was to finally get to taste it.
He gave me a small package and told me to savour every small piece. My friends weren't interested in my small treasure. But it was indeed fantastic.
I then also hunted around the backs of tiny shops looking for a Mogwai to take home, as my cats just aren't impressing me these days. Hairballs etc.
But I just couldn't find the secret voodoo chinese/asian store that carried one, or more? So I left 20% satisfied.

Then off to the Old Port of Montreal with the girls.
They had a reggae festival going on.
IS Bob Marley alive?
YES, and I saw him in French form.
Dreds AND a fannypack! Imagine my suprise.
Got sun, picked up my feet and walked over to see some Quebec punk throwing japanese knives. Gave my loonies away. But now THATS entertainment!

On a sad note, (not re: the punks)

This weekend my parents cat Finnegan just died of kidney failure.
He was only 6 years old.
So yes I was really sad this weekend.
Life is precious and can be taken at any moment.
Think of this often and live out your days as if there would be no tomorrow.
Can you do this?
Sometimes it's nice just to stay home and waste the day away eating strawberries and cool whip. And let time pass rapidly.
Ah, Cool whip. Aint life grand when you can get edible oil out of a can!

And sometimes it's nice just to stay out late enough with friends to watch the sunrise. Not always on purpose mind you, but at least you'll know that there WILL be a tomorrow.

My brother and his wife are expecting any day. Tangie is glowing.
So all I can say is I CANT WAIT! and, the suitcase better be beside the front door Mike!
Life IS all around you. Make sure to stop and look. Appreciate it in all forms good and bad.

Brian just told me that his sister is now expecting! But thats a whole 9mths away.
I am happy for his family, they need someone new and precious to smile about.

Due to the fact that I couldn't find the Mogwai, I almost got a dog today, but then I remembered that I have cats. And the dog would eat them. So then I almost got a hamster. And then the cats would eat him. So then I almost got a bunny, but then I remembered that I COULD eat him if I were to lose my fridge. So instead I got a giant box of Mr. Freeze and Kool-aid. And some Marshmallow Peanuts.
All in a Sunday imagine.
